LeadingAge PA is a trade association representing Pennsylvania not-for-profit organizations that provide housing, healthcare and community services primarily to the elderly.
Founded in 1963, the Pennsylvania Association of Non-Profit Homes for the Aging – now LeadingAge PA - was established to provide education and a voice of advocacy for not-for-profit long term care providers.
Up until this time, not-for-profit homes for the aging had no collective representation and little to no recognition as a distinct group providing a specific service. Not wishing to be just a part of a superstructure of groups concerned with aging, the founders established an association based on their non-profit philosophy and the principles that set them apart.
Although the types of care and services provided by LeadingAge PA members vary; all are not-for-profit and strive to meet the social, physical and spiritual needs of the individual and to help older persons achieve the dignity and quality of life they deserve in their retirement years.
True to its founders’ original vision, LeadingAge PA remains steadfast to its commitment of advocating on behalf of members and ensuring they are equipped to meet the future demands they face as not-for-profit providers.
