A wise person once observed, "Isn't it funny how day by day nothing changes, but when you look back, everything is different." Most of us can relate to this idea, especially since the start of the coronavirus outbreak where every day seems like Groundhog Day.


In August 2020, as part of its 30th anniversary celebration, Asbury Springhill hosted the opening of its new Dr. Robert & Marilyn Bernhard Aquatic Center. Springhill collaborated with LeadingAge PA Business Member THW Design to add a wellness component for residents to the existing campus.


In August of 1989, Landis Homes began its first adventure of serving older adults who lived in their own homes beyond the retirement community campus. There was considerable thinking and planning over many years, before the dream became a reality and the first clients were welcomed to the program in Eden West.

The administrations of St. Ignatius Nursing & Rehab Center (STINRC), West Philadelphia, PA, for many years under the direction of SM Agatha Cebula and Mr. John Meacham from 1986 to 2016, and now Ms. Susan McCrary from 2017 to 2019, have long held the belief that affordable housing for frail elderly should be accessible in an urban campus adjacent to the skilled nursing facility of STINRC.

Cornwall Manor Retirement Community was founded in 1949 by a group of Methodist clergy and laymen from the Philadelphia Conference of The United Methodist Church (now the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference), led by the Rev. Dr. Levi Zerr and Bishop Fred Pierce Corson, as a home for retired United Methodist clergy, their families and "other deserving persons." On October 15, 1949, the first 11 residents moved into the Buckingham Mansion at The Methodist Church Home at Cornwall.

Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network was founded by the Rev. John and Estella Raker who took a disabled child, Viola Hunt, into their home - the first of many, from newborns to centenarians, to be cared for by the couple.
