Though DHS has not yet released information on the termination of state regulatory flexibilities, it was previously stated that personal care homes and assisted living residences could conduct practice fire drills without citation prior to July 31.

DHS Updates from BHSL:
  • Compliance with Fire Drill regulations is anticipated to begin August 1. DHS clarified that PCH/ALR can complete as many practice fire drills prior to Aug. 1 as necessary to get staff and residents prepared for the return to monthly fire drill and timing requirements without citation.

The Governor signed HB 649 sponsored by Representative Kathy Rapp (R- Warren, Crawford, Forest) which will require long-term care facilities to allow essential caregivers to visit with residents no later than 45 days after a lockdown is put in place because of an emergency declaration.
