DILLSBURG, Pa. (Aug. 20, 2020) - Presbyterian Senior Living (PSL) joined the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA) to collaborate and develop strategies for the senior living industry amidst the COVID-19 health crisis. PSL in collaboration with ICAA's COVID-19 Senior Living Task Force generated ideas, tactics and messaging to help plan the next model of senior living that optimizes the health and well-being for older adults.

"We continue to diligently meet our mission and provide residents a healthy and vibrant community to live and thrive in during a national and unprecedented pandemic," said task force member, Alicia Fenstermacher, Senior Corporate Director of Purposeful Living of PSL. "While this has been emotionally and strategically difficult, we have resilient residents, families, team members and benefactors who make PSL a strong organization. Being a part of the task force propels us forward as we consider all options in creating a new normal and focus on strengthening our culture of wellness and purposeful living."

The strategies and tactics developed by ICAA's task force are intended to guide organizations to hep prepare and create a path towards the next normal in senior living. Some of the strategies include developing a culture of positive aging, framed by all the dimensions of wellness and provide technology to increase connections, aid efficiency and optimize health. "To emphasize the differences among the types of senior living options, task force members suggested structural changes that could renew the value proposition of senior living, while striving to ensure the health and well-being of residents, staff and family," said task force organizer Colin Milner, CEO of ICAA.

Presbyterian Senior Living continues to balance the safety of residents and staff, while looking to the future. Each community has an individual plan for reopening. As an organization, PSL is determined to further develop communication and engagement options and strengthen our wellness culture.
