DOH Requests NF Financial Data
*UPDATE: The Department of Health has changed their course and abandoned the below request. They will be working with the Department of Human Services to obtain available information from the MA-11s.*
The PA Department of Health is aware that COVID has had a tremendous financial impact on Pennsylvania’s healthcare providers. To better understand the lasting impact of COVID, the PA Department of Health has initiated a financial resiliency study.

During our biweekly call with the Department of Health (DOH):

  • They reminded nursing facilities that they should have an internal complaint process that is reviewed with residents and families.  Often concerns can be solved using this process as opposed to residents and families contacting the Department.

With the 90 day renewal of the Public Health Emergency, 1135 waivers issued by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) remain in effect. 
  • The 3-Day Hospital Stay Waiver remains in effect with the extension, even if referring hospitals are telling you otherwise.

Quality Reporting Program: Non-Compliance Letters for FY 2022 APU
CMS is providing notifications to facilities that were determined to be out of compliance with Quality Reporting Program (QRP) requirements for CY 2020, which will affect their FY 2022 Annual Payment Update (APU). Non-compliance notifications are being distributed by the Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) and were placed into facilities’ CASPER folders in QIES, for Hospice and SNFs, on July 14, 2021.
