When the Jewish Healthcare Foundation (JHF) saw the devastating impacts of the pandemic on long-term care, they recognized it wasn't just the coronavirus that was adversely affecting nursing homes. The decades of lack of support to fundamental, structural issues like funding, staffing, and training were also significant contributing factors.

A wise person once observed, "Isn't it funny how day by day nothing changes, but when you look back, everything is different." Most of us can relate to this idea, especially since the start of the coronavirus outbreak where every day seems like Groundhog Day.

In August 2020, as part of its 30th anniversary celebration, Asbury Springhill hosted the opening of its new Dr. Robert & Marilyn Bernhard Aquatic Center. Springhill collaborated with LeadingAge PA Business Member THW Design to add a wellness component for residents to the existing campus.

The administrations of St. Ignatius Nursing & Rehab Center (STINRC), West Philadelphia, PA, for many years under the direction of SM Agatha Cebula and Mr. John Meacham from 1986 to 2016, and now Ms. Susan McCrary, have long held the belief that affordable housing for frail elderly should be accessible in an urban campus adjacent to the skilled nursing facility of STINRC.
