Jennifer Kappen, is senior vice president of affordable housing for HumanGood, a national nonprofit organization serving over 15,000 seniors across eight states through 23 life plan communities and over 100 affordable housing communities.
Kappen brings more than 20 years of experience in senior living and nonprofit financial leadership. In her current role, she leads a team of vice presidents across operations, resident services, and development, supporting more than 9,000 residents and 450 team members in HumanGOod affordable housing communities. She works closely with executive leadership, boards, and stakeholders to advance strategic growth, expand affordable housing access, and enhance services for seniors. Her leadership contributed to the addition and renovation of multiple communities, as well as the advancement of initiatives supporting residents experiencing homelessness through HUD preference programs and new development funding strategies.
Previously, Kappen served as vice president of finance and risk management with HumanGood and as executive vice president and chief financial officer for Presby’s Inspired Life, where she oversaw finance, information technology, and risk management functions. She led major strategic initiatives, including the successful affiliation with HumanGood, development and financing of the Rydal Waters project, and implementation of multi-year strategic and technology plans.
Kappen was named a Philadelphia Business Journal CFO of the Year and has served on the Caring Communities Health Insurance Program Board. She is committed to advancing mission-driven senior living organizations and expanding access to affordable housing for older adults.
