LeadingAge PA represents 400+ member communities from across the continuum of aging services in Pennsylvania, all of which are mission-driven and have a strong commitment to providing the best quality of life and care to all older adults in their community.

What We Do

LeadingAge PA empowers members through advocacy, education, research, workforce support, and communications that strengthen Pennsylvania’s aging services sector.

Who We Represent

Our mission-driven members consist of Life Plan Communities/Continuing Care Retirement Communities, nursing homes, assisted living and personal care residences, LIFE programs, home- and community-based services, and affordable senior housing. They:

  • Deliver quality care, compassion, and resident well-being.
  • Build communities that support active, healthy lifestyles and compassionate care.
  • Participate in education, networking, and collaborative opportunities year-round.
  • Engage in Association initiatives, including volunteer work, advocacy, and leadership programs.

How We're Structured

LeadingAge PA is a tax-exempt not-for-profit organization under IRC Section 501(c)(6) and has served as the parent organization for the Association since 2016. LeadingAge PA additionally operates a second not-for-profit corporation, an LLC, a for-profit corporation, and a Political Action Committee (PAC):  

  • The Pennsylvania Association of Non-Profit Homes for the Aging (PANPHA), now doing business as LeadingAge PA Foundation, was founded in 1963 and is tax-exempt pursuant to IRC Section 501(c)(3). It operates and funds educational programming, leadership development, grants, and scholarships. (Click to view the LeadingAge PA Foundation's 2023 990.)
  • LeadingAge PA Services, LLC was created in 2021 in order to operate an insurance brokerage for provider members utilizing RCHP for their insurance needs.
  • Kairos Health Systems is a for-profit, wholly owned subsidiary that was acquired in 2020.  Kairos provides consulting services to senior living organizations to enhance financial and operational performance. 
  • The LeadingAge PA Political Action Committee (PAC) operates as a Separate Segregated Fund that is attached to LeadingAge PA and supports advocacy efforts.
