2025 Year in Review: Strength and Dedication in Action
As we look back on the past year, one main theme stands out: the strength and dedication of Pennsylvania’s aging services providers. Your leadership has shaped high-quality care across the state, and every achievement this year was made possible through your commitment and engagement.
We faced challenges, seized new opportunities, and made significant progress for older adults, our team members, and the future of our sector. Here’s a recap of what we accomplished together.
Education & Events:
This year, we experienced significant growth in our education and events, with more members engaged in LeadingAge PA programs.
- Launched Leaders Ignited, a seven-week leadership development series that engaged 99 participants and provided valuable tools to enhance their teams and communities.
- Annual Conference, returning to Hershey, attracted 1,451 registrants, sold out 199 exhibit booths, and had a 20-vendor waitlist.
- Fall Finance Conference and regional programs continued to offer valuable sessions and foster peer connections.
- Saw a record 360 attendees at State Night during LeadingAge National’s Annual Meeting.
Members also showed incredible interest in virtual learning.
- 391 Learning Portal resources downloaded.
- 33 webinars were held, with a total of 1,236 attendees
- Awarded 8,010+ continuing education credits across programs.
- 192 participants in the virtual governance series
Membership & Workforce
Our membership community was strong this year.
- Welcomed 11 new or returning member communities.
- Achieved a 98% retention rate.
Workforce remained a key focus.
- More than 250 job seekers signed up for our new Career Center, connecting them with aging services providers.
- LeadingAge PA Foundation awarded more than $110,000 in grants and scholarships to help staff further their education and careers.
Government Affairs
In 2025, we made important progress in advocating for the needs of providers and older adults.
Advocacy
- Second Lobby Day brought nearly 40 members to Harrisburg for more than 40 legislative meetings.
- PAC contributions at the Annual Conference surpassed expectations and exceeded the year-end goal of $30,000.
- Six regional legislative breakfasts connected more than 200 members with 35 legislative offices.
- 777 messages were sent through VoterVoice, and 190 first-time advocates took action.
Legislation, Regulatory, and Funding
- Improved understanding of key issues like the Budget Adjustment Factor (BAF), the Amount That Would Otherwise Be Paid (AWOP) for LIFE providers, and ongoing challenges with MA Pending.
- Drafted the LIFE attestation bill (HB 1894), which was passed unanimously in the state House and now awaits Senate consideration.
- Wrote the Ageism Awareness Day resolution (HR 330), which was adopted by the House and formally recognizes October 9, 2025, as Ageism Awareness Day in Pennsylvania.
- Advanced the passage of workforce focused SB 114 and SB 115, aiding nursing students in entering the job market quickly and offering alternative pathways for PCH/ALR applicants.
- Submitted a Fire Drill Proposal to BHSL as part of LTSS Evolve and discussed support for behavioral health and substance use in nursing homes.
Housing
- Organized the first Affordable Housing Developer Summit, submitted recommendations to DCED for the State Housing Action Plan, and held a housing and health roundtable with provider member NewCourtland and the Shapiro administration.
Data
- We conducted a successful joint workforce survey for nursing homes and hospitals, achieving a 73% response rate from LeadingAge PA members, and released an updated and revitalized version of Aging Services: Key Statistics and Information.
Other Wins
Outside our main program areas, several important accomplishments reflect continued growth and member support.
- Launched the Nurse Leaders Council and its task force
- Launched the Innovations Committee, with its task force soon to follow
- Earned 112 press appearances, including interviews, articles, and op-eds
- Applied for and received Google Ad Grant funding for the first time – coordinated by our Marketing Manager, Yana Kuzina
