LeadingAge PA Issues Statement on Passage of 2025-2026 PA Budget

November 12, 2025

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (November 12, 2025) — Following the passage of the 2025–2026 Pennsylvania state budget, LeadingAge PA President and CEO Garry Pezzano issued a statement highlighting the budget’s lack of adequate support for the aging services sector.

“After a lengthy deadlock, the 2025-2026 Pennsylvania state budget has failed to meet the needs of Pennsylvania’s seniors and those who care for them. In the face of ongoing threats to Medicaid funding at the federal level, it was imperative that our state government come through with much-needed funding for nursing homes and LIFE providers, implement fixes to the broken funding systems, and provide necessary relief from the workforce crisis. Sadly, the enacted state budget falls short on all counts.

“We thank those partners and the many state lawmakers who fought alongside us this year, and especially our members who told their stories and raised awareness of these important issues. Our message remains the same: Seniors deserve access to care when and where they need it, and our leaders in Pennsylvania must rise to meet this challenge in 2026.”

LeadingAge PA will continue to advocate for sustainable funding and policies that protect access to quality care for all older adults in Pennsylvania.
