General Assembly Budget Hearing Schedule Released

Governor Josh Shapiro delivered his 2026-2027 proposed budget to the General Assembly on Tuesday, February 3rd. The Governor’s proposed FY 2026-2027 budget has $53.262 Billion in General Fund expenditures, which represents a roughly 5.38% increase over the current budget. Unfortunately, the Governor’s proposal failed to address the needs of older adults who rely on aging services providers for care and support.

Now, the real work begins.

The Senate and House Appropriation Committees will begin their month-long meeting marathon, where members will comb through state departments' proposed budgets and raise questions, provide comments on not only the numbers on paper, but the performance of their respective departments over the past year.

LeadingAge PA will be monitoring these meetings closely as certain questions asked can lend clues to what the administration is prioritizing and what issues or topics can be dealbreakers or dealmakers. The schedule for those meetings is as follows:

  •  House Appropriations Committee
    1. February 24, Department of Health (1 pm) watch
    2. February 25, Department of Community and Economic Development (10 am) watch
    3. March 4, Department of Human Services (10 am and 1 pm) watch
    4. March 10, Department of Aging (1 pm) watch
  • Senate Appropriations Committee
    1. February 25, Department of Human Services (10 am and 1 pm) watch
    2. March 4, Workforce Development and Job Training Programs (9:30 am) watch
