Pleasant View Communities Childcare Center Renovation Kickoff & Ceremonial Wall Smashing

June 30, 2026

Pleasant View Communities in Penn Township will hold a special construction kickoff celebration on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 3 p.m. The event, taking place at Pleasant View Communities, 544 N Penryn Rd, Manheim, PA 17545, marks the official start of renovations to a campus building that will be transformed into a new childcare center serving families in the greater Manheim area.

The event will feature remarks from Pleasant View Communities leadership, Senator James Malone, and Representative Mindy Fee, followed by a ceremonial wall-smashing to mark the start of the renovation and to symbolize breaking through barriers to local childcare access.

Active construction work will have already commenced, providing an opportunity for photos and video of the project in progress. For the safety of all attendees, hard hats will be provided for anyone who does not bring their own.

Community members, project partners, and local stakeholders will be in attendance to celebrate this important milestone. Paul Risk Construction is the contractor for the renovation, and Owl Hill Learning Academy is the vendor who will operate the childcare center.

The childcare center represents a significant investment in supporting working families and expanding child care in the region. Pleasant View was awarded a $600,000 Statewide Local Share Account grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority to transform a campus building into the new childcare center.

“This project addresses a critical need for child care in the greater Manheim area. By bringing together the youngest and oldest members of our community, we’re creating a space where joy and learning flourish,” Pleasant View President Jonathan Hollinger said. “We cannot thank Representative Mindy Fee and Senator James Malone enough for their enthusiastic support of Pleasant View’s initiative.”
