White Horse Village Foundation Awards Over $40,000 in Educational Scholarships to Team Members
NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. — Eighteen White Horse Village team members will get a boost toward their educational goals this fall as the White Horse Village Foundation Inc. awards more than $40,000 in scholarships.
White Horse Village residents and other supporters of the Foundation make the scholarships possible. The awards help team members pursue postsecondary education at colleges and universities in the region and across the nation. This year’s recipients are studying a range of subjects, including nursing, political science, social work, natural sciences, data science, architecture, accounting, public health, education, engineering and the arts.
The scholarship program reflects the strong bond between White Horse Village residents and team members. Several recipients this fall said building relationships with residents has been one of the most rewarding parts of working at White Horse Village.
Among the recipients is Rachel Mirin, a dining server and sophomore at the University of Rochester studying electrical and computer engineering with a minor in biomedical engineering. She hopes to use her education to design better mobility devices and hearing aids. Looking back on her White Horse Village experience, Mirin described the joy she has found in celebrating residents' birthdays, anniversaries and other milestones. "I just love watching people smile and laugh," she said.
"This program—initiated by residents decades ago—is one of the most meaningful ways the Foundation can invest in the people who contribute so much to the White Horse Village community. We are proud to support these talented team members as they pursue their educational goals, and we are deeply grateful to the residents whose generosity makes these opportunities possible," said Tom Stretton, a White Horse Village resident and chair of the White Horse Village Foundation board.

- Eric Torikian, Ursinus College, chemistry/pre-med
- Evan Menta, George Washington University, biological sciences
- Isabella Chiaverini, Delaware County Community College, studio arts
- Jack Shafer, Saint Joseph’s University, finance
- Kathryn Brokken, Syracuse University, architecture
- Katrina Venuti, Delaware County Community College and West Chester University, nursing
- Kiana Walker, Temple University, public health
- Lexie Voccaro, University of Tampa, elementary education
- Rachel Mirin, University of Rochester, electrical and computer engineering/biomedical engineering
