Marianne Lake

Q: What is your favorite season and why?
A: I like all seasons, but if I had to pick one, I'd choose spring. I can get in the dirt and garden! I love to garden so much that we converted a former kennel into a "she shed" for me. My husband even built a brick path through the garden so I can easily get to my sanctuary.

Q: If you could be in any TV show from your childhood, what would it be? Why?
A: "Romper Room." I watched every day and waited for the hostess to look into the Magic Mirror and see "Marianne" in TV land, but she never said my name!

Q: If you had to pick a new name for yourself, what name would you pick?
A: Nina. My grandson, Tucker, who recently turned two, chose the name for me. I always thought I'd be "Nana" instead of "Grandma," but I love being his "Nina"--especially when I learned the English meaning is favor and grace.

Q: What is your favorite hobby?
A: Painting. It's so therapeutic. I look forward to weekends when I can paint for hours while listening to worship and praise music. Because I prefer to work with oil paints, which need to be stored in a climate-controlled room to avoid spoiling, we turned a spare bedroom into my art studio. I love spending time there!

Q: Name a favorite character or book from your childhood.
A: I don't have one favorite book, I have a whole series! As a little girl, I loved the Golden Books! Every week, when my parents would go grocery shopping, they would return with bags full of groceries to put away. But, the first thing my dad would do would be to reach into the top of the first bag and pull out a new Golden Book for me! I always looked forward to seeing what new story they would have for me when they returned from their weekly trip.

Q: Tell us about your favorite trip.
A: My favorite trip isn't to a particular place. I have a specific type of trip I love to take instead. Several years ago, my daughter and I began planning regular "mother/daughter" trips once a year. The two of us take off together on a long weekend to explore different locations and try new experiences. I'm really looking forward to this year's trip--the first one in three years. This time we are going shark tooth hunting at Camp Lejeune!

Marianne Lake is responsible for developing the organization's education goals, implementing its leadership programs, and advancing the development of data-driven resources to support members' strategic initiatives. In addition, Lake works to identify opportunities to enhance or expand current offerings to attract new audiences and better meet the needs of our members.

Prior to joining LeadingAge PA as manager of education & research in 2015, Lake worked for a senior living consulting firm where she focused on market research for a variety of senior housing clients including CCRCs, assisted living residences, personal care homes, skilled nursing facilities, and home and community based services. Lake attended York College where she majored in accounting.
