Resident engagement has become a core marketing asset for senior living communities. It is foundational to person-centered care, especially for those living with dementia, and has for decades been shown to be effective but it remains the least managed side of senior living operations. This session will explore exclusive findings about the resident engagement field, best practices from leading senior living operators, and strategies for how to enable the model of social prescription. Participants will understand how person-centered engagement and programming not only contribute to strengthening residents’ resiliency, but also provides opportunities for older adults to enjoy active, engaged, and meaningful lives, as well as potentially delay their progression to higher levels of care. Participants will learn how to use various engagement strategies and resources to increase meaningful engagement and enhance residents’ quality of life through non-pharmacological interventions.
