Risk Management Analyst

With more than 25 years of experience as a registered nurse--including 21 years in critical care as both a charge and a staff nurse, and as a licensed attorney with 14 years of experience as a plaintiffs’ medical malpractice litigator, Al Buchta brings a unique perspective to his role as a risk management analyst for Caring Communities.

During his nursing career, Buchta worked as an intensive care clinical preceptor, lectured graduate medical staff and nurses on issues such as the importance of objective charting and incident reporting, and served as a member of the hospital-wide Clinical Ethics Committee, which assists and advises patients, families, and caregivers on complex issues from end-of-life care to ethical medical decision making. He holds a Juris Doctorate from Loyola University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and theory from Northeastern Illinois University, as well as an Associate’s in applied science – nursing from Oakton.
