July 31, 2025

On July 31, 2025, Redstone’s President and Chief Executive Officer, John R. Dickson, IV, officially marked his retirement. The retirement, first announced at Redstone’s annual Gala in November of 2024, has been a carefully planned transition that ensures Redstone’s stability and opportunities for future growth. Since the announcement, there have been many strategic meetings, and multiple opportunities to celebrate Dickson’s leadership. A formal event with 200 people in attendance was held at the The Venue in Greensburg on July 11th.

At this event Dickson was presented with a retirement gift of a trip to Ireland, and it was announced that funds had been raised in his honor to launch the John R. Dickson, IV Scholarship for Healthcare Administration. Both the gift and the scholarship are made possible by generous donor contributions.

In a final letter to employees and residents, Dickson shared, “It has been a great honor and privilege to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer for Redstone Presbyterian SeniorCare (RPSC) for the past 23 plus years. I began my career, and love, in aging services in 1982 and have never regretted this decision. I was provided with the opportunity to be on the forefront of developing and managing many affordable housing units for frail seniors in ten states. As a result, this experience helped me to better understand the mission importance of non-profit faith affiliated organizations. My success in the field of aging services is attributed to past leaders who opened many doors to opportunity for me. I have been forever thankful for such kindness. I am extremely proud that RPSC offers such educational growth opportunities and offers assistance for employees who fall into difficult times. Upon my arrival at Redstone Presbyterian SeniorCare in 2001, it was very evident to me the mission objectives set forth by the board of directors were strongly dedicated to quality. All business decisions at RPSC are supported by the tenets of quality. I was recently asked what I was most proud of during my tenure as President & CEO at Redstone. For me, it has always been the culture and core values that were created. These initiatives helped us to build a positive, growth-oriented work environment to assist in attracting and retaining top-tier employees. As a result, RPSC enjoys long-term tenured leaders to formulate and guide strong strategic programs. Upon my retirement on July 31, 2025, I can assure you the mission of RPSC and strategic initiatives will

faithfully continue to build upon our pillars of quality and serving the community. I depart knowing there’s a very capable and dedicated team of qualified leaders behind me. Again, it has been a great and true honor to serve as Redstone’s President & CEO.”

Dickson’s professional legacy within the aging services industry is noteworthy. Following graduation from the Ohio Dominican University, Dickson began his career as a Regional Coordinator for National Church Residences in Columbus, Ohio where he served from 1982 to 1998. From 1998 through 1995, he was employed by United Church Homes, Inc., located in Marion, Ohio, as Director of Housing Services. Dickson then served as President/Vice President - Chief Development Officer for Ohio Presbyterian Retirement Services (OPRS) located in Columbus, Ohio. From 1995 to 2001 he facilitated the development, construction, and expansion of new services for eleven senior living communities.

Since his arrival at Redstone, Dickson led expansion through the construction of two new campuses at a cost of

$49,060,000. He twice orchestrated cost reduction and operational restructuring plans to position Redstone to refinance its debt and to better meet the service needs of its stakeholders. Under his leadership, Redstone has been recognized as a “Best Practices” organization for its innovative employee health insurance plan, and honored by employees as a “Best Places to Work” organization.

Over the past decade, Dickson led the organization to launch Redstone@Home, dedicated to providing home care, home health, and hospice services within the Redstone communities and externally. Recognizing the need for quality in agency staffing, Dickson worked with leaders to create 5 Star Staffing, an agency dedicated to serving the needs of Redstone first, and neighboring organizations as growth occurs. Recent expansion has included the acquisition of units and providing management services for the Redmont Village Condominium Association in Greensburg. Dickson notes that he is pleased with the naming of Vicki Loucks, MSN MBA, currently serving as Redstone’s VP of Operations and COO, to fill his position. “Vicki Loucks is a capable and dedicated leader, who will continue the Mission of Redstone with excellence.”

Beyond Redstone, Dickson served on the LeadingAge PA board from 2008 to 2019, rising to the role of Chairman and Past Chairman. He has been an especially passionate voice for advocacy at the local and state levels. In 2018 he was awarded the first LeadingAge PA award for advocacy. A regular attender of LeadingAge meetings and functions, he has been a mentor and friend to many over the years. In June of 2010, LeadingAge PA recognized John’s contribution to the aging services field and presented him a Distinguished Service Award for Leader of the Year. In 2022, he received the Paul P. Haas Lifetime Achievement Award from LeadingAge PA for his exemplary service. This year, LeadingAge PA again honored Dickson for his advocacy efforts across the state and nationally.

Locally, he serves as the Treasurer for the Redstone Presbytery, Elder Trustee at First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg, and is an active member of Rotary International in Greensburg. He is a past chair of the Faith-Based Network Alliance, Faith Affiliated Insurance Program, and Western Pennsylvania Alliance Pharmacy. He is an advisory board member for the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. Dickson is married to Linda, also a leader in senior living services, and together they parent a beautifully blended family of seven children and seven grandchildren.

Redstone’s Board Chair, Mike Passalinqua, notes, “The Board of Directors of Redstone Presbyterian Senior care is thankful to John for his visionary leadership of the organization and his tireless commitment to our residents. “
