LeadingAge PA responds to President Biden's statement on nursing home reforms
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (March 3, 2022) – LeadingAge PA, the leading voice for senior services across Pennsylvania, today commented on the White House statement on improving safety and quality of care in the nation’s nursing homes.
“As our nursing homes continue to struggle through a historic workforce and funding crisis across the nation, LeadingAge PA is appreciative of the president acknowledging this in his statement. Along with our national affiliate, we continue to explore every available avenue to communicate the severity and devastating outcomes the future holds for many nursing homes across the commonwealth if real solutions for the long-standing workforce challenges and significant Medicaid reimbursement funding shortfalls are not addressed. We cannot allow the quality of care to our older adults to be compromised as they’re forced to sell to organizations with a different mission and standards of care. The president understands there is no quality care for our seniors without a healthy, quality workforce; yet, additional oversight and regulations are offered, as opposed to addressing the root of the problems and taking the opportunity to truly transform a broken system.”
