You have probably heard by now that coming soon, there will be a new way to calculate
your facility’s case mix score. We’ve known for years this day would come and now is the
time to be sure your teams are well-prepared for this shift. Pennsylvania case mix will shift
from being RUGs based to PDPM based. This transition will be phased in over the next few
years with the full effect taking place in 2027. Picture dates from May 1 and August 1 2025
will likely be used to calculate rates for the 2026 calendar year. It is critical at this time to
be prepared for the August 1 picture date. As we prepare for these changes, consider some
potentially untapped resources to help you maximize case mix scoring under the new
system.
