Dehydration is a significant yet frequently overlooked risk in senior care settings. This session explores the health impacts of inadequate hydration, including increased confusion, heat-related illnesses, UTIs, falls, and safety concerns for older adults. Participants will learn why hydration requires intentional, structured oversight and gain practical strategies for building a proactive, sustainable hydration program. It will also address barriers such as cognitive impairment, limited thirst sensation, and inconsistent protocols, offering solutions to strengthen staff engagement and integrate hydration efforts into daily care routines.
