LeadingAge PA thanks Senate for unanimous approval of emergency nursing facilities funding

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (May 12, 2020) - Adam Marles, president and CEO of LeadingAge PA, the voice for nonprofit senior care in Pennsylvania, today thanked the state Senate for unanimously approving a $507 million emergency funding package to help all Pennsylvania nursing facilities battle the coronavirus pandemic. The legislation now goes to the state House for consideration.

"Pennsylvania nursing facilities have been the epicenter of our commonwealth's fight against the coronavirus, and this funding will help tremendously in that effort," said LeadingAge PA president and CEO, Adam Marles. "Nursing facilities will invest immediately on providing frontline help to our brave health care professionals and critical personal protective equipment. We want to thank all senators for their support. This is an important step toward protecting our most vulnerable and those who care for them on a daily basis. The Pennsylvania House has been strong supporters of our efforts as well, and we hope for speedy passage of this legislation."

The package includes: $449 million for long-term care, $50 million for Community HealthChoices, and $8 million for LIFE (Living Independence for the Elderly) programs.
